Broadcast Asia 2004, Changi Expo
"Surround in Broadcasting - Multi-Channel Sound Hits the Airwaves"
Once again, the
Singapore Section teamed up with SES, the conference organizer
of Broadcast Asia, to jointly organize a full-day seminar held
on site during the flagship broadcast trade show in Asia. Our keynote
speaker will be Mick Sawaguchi of NHK Japan presented
a paper "The surround production nuts and bolts in broadcasting".
AES members enjoyed generous discounts for this seminar.

AES Booth at CALM 2004
AES Inc had a
booth at CALM (China Audio Light & Music) 2004 show in Beijing,
China. CALM 2004 is the biggest show in China with over 98,000
registered visitors, including foreign
visitors, over a four-day period. With over 1,000 Chinese
and overseas companies exhibiting and occupying a floor area exceeding
50,000 square meters spread over 9 cavernous halls at the China
International Exhibition Center in Beijing, CALM is the second
biggest show in the world for the professional Audio, Light and
Music Industry in terms of visitors and floor space occupied. For

"Hearing Loss Issues for Audio Professionals"

professional, whether they are recording string orchestras in a
concert hall or doing DSP research in a lab environment, their

will discuss the issue of workplace hearing loss, the biology of
hearing loss and offer practical and essential steps for audio

Function at Chairman's House
For a change
of pace, a social function was organized for AES Singapore Section
members at the house of Chairman Arthur Ngiam. The dinner was organized
because a special friend of the section, Professor Kees A. Schouhamer
Immink, was in town as part of his duties with NUS. For a full
