To
start any story "it was a cold, wet night" would be perfect for a classic
whodunit mystery, but for the brave souls who were undeterred by the
unusually heavy tropical downpour that soaked Singapore on the evening
of December 9th and made it to the Yellow Pages building in Toa Payoh,
a delightful tour of one of the newest studio facilities in the Island
Republic
was theirs. Focusing on delivering quality and value to its clients,
Integrated Studio opened its doors in 2003.
AES members and their
guests were first treated to light refreshments courtesy of Integrated
Studio. It is a purpose built post production facility
that sells itself as 'the secret to inexpensive audio and video production'
and offers a mix of video, audio and graphic editorial services under
one roof.
Studio
Manager
Mr. Collin
Toh gave
the assembled AES members and guests a tour of the entire facility,
which
features dedicated
suites
for
each of the production disciplines. As this was an AES event, there
was a particular focus on the audio editing suite. Handling a mix of
traditional audio-for-video
sessions,
the audio suite also offers a diverse range of services, from on-hold
message recording through to radio jingles. Featuring a control room
housing a classic horse shoe console with Sonic Studio HD DAW and a
Yamaha 03D mixer feeding into Genelec 1030A speakers, Mr. Toh explained
the
efficient
workflow
within
the
audio suite, as well as how productions can move smoothly to and from
the video editing and graphic suites.
The tour concluded
with a Q&A session and photo session, before everyone headed back
out into the damp night. The AES would like to thank Mr. Elson
Peh,
department director, for making this tour possible and for the refreshments,
and to Mr. Collin Toh for an insightful evening
for the
last
AES Singapore Section event for 2003.

Mr. Toh for the attendees |

The recording room was designed to not feel
restricted: note the number of attendees inside with Mr. Toh! |
Fortune favors the brave: for those who journeyed
on one of the wettest December nights on record to attend this
studio tour, an informative and enjoyable evening was the reward! |
