The audio industry of Singapore gathered once again on Friday, 29 June 2001 to meet and elect the committee for the Term 2001/2002. At 7.00 pm, 29 members and 59 guests of the AES Singapore Section began streaming in to the Le Meridien Hotel to attended the 7th Annual General Meeting cum Buffet Dinner of the AES Singapore Section.

The Master-of-Ceremonies for the night was Mr. Bob Wong. After a brief welcome, guests and members were invited to savour the delectable buffet spread.  The easy-going atmosphere contributed to active networking for the new and a reunion for the seasoned.

While dinner continued, the Secretary of the AES Singapore Section, Mr. Rafael Oei, gave a short presentation on the benefits of associating with an international organization such as AES. Sharing his own personal experiences and the value of being able to function within and among like-minded individuals, he introduced AES Singapore Section and AES International as a community that serious audio professionals would want to be a part of.

A lovely and quirky greeting, from MTV Singapore’s video DJ Donita Rose, then followed the secretary’s report.  The guests were then treated to a nostalgic video presentation Down Memory Lane documenting the AES Singapore Section’s growth since its inception.  Both presentations were produced by Mr Kenneth J Delbridge.

The honorary Advisor, Mr Jibby Jacob, then delivered a message from AES Vice-President, International Region, Dr Rhonda Wilson. She congratulated AES Singapore on their 7th Annual General Meeting and commended the section, once again, on its activities and good organisation. She looked forward to the new committee and more activities, particularly the coming seminar during the PALA convention in July.

Mr Robert Soo, Chairman AES Singapore Section, then presented the opening address and the Chairman’s report for the Term 2000/2001.  He told the audience that the membership of the AES Singapore Section has grown to a total of 79.  He urged those present to pass the word around and rally more people to join AES Singapore Section.  The Chairman reiterated that members’ benefits include discounts for AES seminars, monthly newsletters and a network of audio professionals that you may call upon for assistance.
